What honestly surprised me was the sudden onset of antisemitism coming from *tolerant left*' and modern liberal circles. It's something that even caused right-wing commentators to do a double take, masked in that same sort of preformative language used to subversively marginalise neurodivergent individuals for not fitting in or closely adhering to political correctness.

I get the importance of establishing a community for the sake of community safety and early warnings, but publishing a list of [people](https://gaza-verified.org/people) that you have successfully confirmed to be from or otherwise have heritage in Gaza is an *incredibly* bad operation security practice.
Please consider keeping sensitive information such as this behind a portal. Oauth can be used to allow verified users to authenticate through their fediverse account for access.
As things currently stand, the resource you've created with good intentions is currently fair game for Mossad to use in profiling.

All we ask is that the folks here keep things civil and try to keep the use of any slurs and other expletives to a minimum. That way we can keep the place a friendly and welcoming environment that anyone can feel comfortable enough to interact with or otherwise participate in.

and I are libertarian for the most part. Love our civil liberties, hate censorship and encroachment. We still federate with nicecrew.digital and poa.st, so anyone can still seek out those demographics if they prefer the vibe of our instance.
Just that we expect our users to make the effort to be civil and behave while here for the sake of cultivating a welcoming and friendly environment.
As I've mentioned previously, I don't think asking people to switch up their vocabulary is a very big ask when we won't censor people's speech or expression here with the exception for instances where it encroaches upon the freedoms of others.

We aren't averse to having people use slurs or expletives on here either, or else it would have been included in the rules as being banned outright. The advisory exists as a provision to prevent the instance from becoming too toxic and skewing the culture in a particular direction. Likewise, our position on anti-censorship ensures that it doesn't go in the opposite direction becoming no different from Mastodon or Reddit.
It is a good compromise for appealing to as many demographics as possible.

Yeah, because having set expectations to ensure that someone will be able to financially contribute back to the economy is the exact same thing as executing Jews and countless other marginalised people or sending them to the gulag.
Please stop using that word so casually, it is an insult to the very memory of the people that suffered throughout world war two.

That right there grapples with some uncomfortable truths. Inclusion today is no longer as it was in the early days of the Free and Open Source movement. Instead comes with a lot of asterisks and caveats attached that aren't very inclusive despite otherwise appearing to be on the surface.
Truth of the matter is that the current political climate has over time radicalized and eroded the patience we once had for each other. Leaving many to land on the conclusion that it may honestly be for the best to drop any pretenses of inclusion and equity in favor of tighter in groups that share more in common with you and thus less likely to challenge your beliefs.

You really ought to write a blog post on epistemic heuristics and the impact that it has on moderating communities @xaetacore. I've known for a while what it was through observing cause and effect, but never really knew the proper terminology for it until recently. A lot of interactions suddenly made a whole lot of sense afterward in retrospect.

Was never my intention to insinuate that you, personally were. Just plainly stating my opinion that I don't believe these two ideologies can map cleanly on to economic models.
Economics tends to add a third dimension which can subtly change the equation in my opinion.

That is unlikely to happen as it is an established sovereign democracy whereas Greenland as a whole 30 something people to their name.
Don't blame you for being worried, though with the way global politics are these days.

Something I believe may be warrant discussion is how each instance is beholden to the rules of another by virtue of federation. Something that has given way to vibes-based reporting which our administrator has been unable to act on.
This has, unfortunately, resulted in the slander of our instance. Branded as allegedly being "*anti-moderation*" and "*bigoted*" for choosing not to punish their users over frivolous reports or engage in the fediblock of the more fringe or controversial instances on here ourselves.
So Fedizens, what are your thoughts?
*Edited.

Don't paywall your community, can guarantee you'll lose people's respect and following.
Nothing wrong with offering perks for supporters but that shouldn't come at the expense of basic necessities.

If we ever arranged a Fedi awards show, what instances would you want to have included? If you have a suggestion, then leave down the instance and their admin.

Hey folks,
Decided it was time for a new instance, so here’s my #introduction. I’m a creatively driven fellow with a passion for privacy, cybersecurity, Linux, and free and open source software. I enjoy gaming, creative writing, and technology—the latter of which inspired me to pursue cybersecurity and system administration.
I embarked on this journey around the start of the pandemic, when the sudden surplus of free time gave me the opportunity to try Manjaro, a distribution of Linux based on Arch. With the release of the Steam Deck, I moved over to NixOS, which I’ve been using ever since while studying cybersecurity in higher education.
The majority of my posts will be set to follower-only, so feel free to throw a follow my way if anything of mine has piqued your curiosity at all.
Look forward to interacting with you all in the future! ^^
