Das sum serious computing. And even though I dropped windows 8 pro for Linux in like 2018 I'm still basically using it like I was using Windows 7 or XP. 😒 Every once in a while I feel like upping my 1337 h4x0r sk1llz but then I get lazy and fall back to how I've done things since Windows ME... yeah I was stuck with that before dad upgraded to XP. Oddly enough my first computing was like 3 or 4 using MS-DOS before they had even dropped Windows 3.1 and we didn't even have a mouse for a long time!

I wanted to like KDE but on two separate systems it crashed my computer so hard I had to boot from a rescue disc and pull all my files off then wipe the drive.
I've mostly stuck with the likes of XFCE, FluxBox, and LXQt since. Not quite ready to go full window manager like icewm or dwm. I did use a Pinephone with a mobile version of dwm for a while, though. Was weird sending texts with Vim.

I try the OTHER AI image generator I use... and it's so fucking slow it constantly crashes the tab, lags out, but then I close the browser and open my profile full of every other generated image again and there's the image it crashed on while generating it, and it crashes loading all the other shit in addition to the image I'm trying to click until I've closed and reopened the browser AGAIN until I can FINALLY right-click, save-as.

I, too, quit drinking years back when I decided it wasn't worth 15 minutes of happy place followed by 15 hours of misery. I was drinking so hard by then I was taking 4 shots of straight everclear in a row just to go to sleep quicker. I felt each shot coating the insides of my mouth, throat, and entire stomach walls with what felt like boiling water that just stuck to my insides for several minutes and I felt like a fire-breathing dragon. I learned to be careful with drinking too much, too fast. I once chugged a whole bottle of UV Blue (1.5 liter) with another full bottle of Blue Curacao (0.75 liter)... I still have photos of my bedroom floor covered in blue liquid mixed with chicken noodles.
I especially learned not to underestimate hard liquor. For some reason, any kind of vodka that even touches my lips causes me to immediately shiver-gag. Except for Smirnoff. I can drink Smirnoff like water. One time I took a shot, went to start cooking, "it's been 15 minutes and I don't feel anything, better take another shot", cooking some more, "It's been 15 minutes and I don't feel anything, time for my third shot", repeat until I've poured five shots of 80-proof down my gullet, and next thing I know I feel like a horse kicked me in the forehead and I can barely stand, the world is swimming, I slam into every wall along the way to the toilet to vomit...

I spent from like 1 til over 35 bouncing (or being bounced) from one therapist and similar "medical professional" until I found the first therapist who's actually been useful and helpful. Well, first that was helpful that isn't a jeffcliff esque trve belieber in corndog19, I dropped him when he demanded never to come back to his office without wearing a fear diaper. You have got to be kidding me.
I wrote a whole dark fedi version of the "Welcome to the Internet" screed. I saved it. I can't find it. I put it in the same text file I save everything else. It's not there. I emailed it to myself as a separate text file. It's not there. I used a terminal command for words that you could be found in that rant like "fediverse" and "nigger" and "skater", it's not there. It's not anywhere.
I know I did it all. I remember writing it. I remember saving it. I remember where I saved it. I also screenshot the whole thing so I had an image of the rant for easy copypasta. This is not the first time something like this has happened.
Did the whole thing in all its forms sprout legs and walk away? Did all that I thought happen, not happen? Are my memories broken? Do I have undiagnosed Alzheimer's? Do I have undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia?
What is happening to my brain? What is wrong with me? Am I hallucinating all you guys, too? Am I hallucinating all the music I listen to or the videos I watch or the memes I save, too? Did I ever post on the fediverse at all? Have I ever been online? Were all my childhood memories manufactured by some psychotic neurosurgeons?

I remember when there was a local gas station in my home town, then suddenly it got demolished and replaced by a Family Express with a Burger King stuck to it, then a whole lot with a Tysen's and a Dollar General popped up next to it a few years later. Earlier than that, our suburb was on the edge of a forest, which was all cut down to build more suburb...
Needless to say, there used to be several small hole-in-the-wall restaurants, including two pizza places, a bakery, and a pork-themed restaurant. All closed down.
