기본 수수료: 1sat/vB

TL;DR: Only 2.5% of BTC holders self-custody. We’re still early.
According to a report published in July 2024 by Mordor Intelligence Pvt Ltd (“Hardware Wallet - Market Share Analysis, Industry Trends & Statistics, Growth Forecasts”), the size of the hardware wallet market is detailed.
The hardware wallet market size for 2024 is reported as $350 million.
Assuming a conservative average hardware wallet price of $200, about 1.75 million units were sold in 2024. The projected market size for 2025 is $560 million, meaning about 2.8 million units are expected to be sold.
This is a very rough estimate based on just one report and some simple assumptions, but if we say each person buys one device, that’s about 5 million people who own a cold wallet (self-custody).
If we assume global adoption is 5%, that means 400 million people out of 8 billion own Bitcoin.
So, out of 400 million, only about 5 million are practicing self-custody.
If we generously include those who self-custodied before 2024 or 2025, let’s round up to 10 million people.
10 million out of 400 million is 2.5%.
So, only about 2.5% of BTC holders have completed self-custody.
It’s clear that BTC adoption is still in its early stages—no need to worry that it’s already saturated.
------
