The backend is the software running on a server somewhere, the frontend is the website which people at home uses to interact with the software on the server.
So a full-stack programmer works on both server-side and client-side software, and the reason why this is important is that they use different technologies.
Frontend is CSS, HTML and JavaScript in some format, backend can be a lot of things like C# or any of the other languages built to do stuff server-side.

I mean, no. I was never in the market for that type of purchase. If I ever decide to get a record player I'll check them out though.
Everyone claims adverts don't work on them, but if it's a product they're in the market for all studies show they do, regardless of what people say.
It's a bit like language, people will claim that they never say this or that or use this construction or pronunciation, when they absolutely do - sometimes in the very sentence where they're denouncing the practice.
That said, anti-consumerist contrarians and nerds like you and me are hard to market to. I am pretty happy about that.

I quite liked that, shows a sense of humour and plays with the stereotypes about people who buy 50K sound systems in 2025.
It was on their store window too, which is less intrusive than when it interrupts my TV-show or invades my online life.

it's absolutely possible to create complicated non simulationist rules. Now, I have no intention of using simulationist rules, especially for combat, but I like to read them none the less. It's almost like a separate intellectual interest almost totally divorced from actual gameplay.
I also like to write a lot of background stuff for my own rpg scenarios, even if I'll never actually use it for anything. I recently created a whole fake UN convention on space law based on shipping law just for fun, which I guess says a lot about what I find fun...

absolutely, but are monolingual quechua speakers immigrating to Spain? Portugal has the same sort of arrangement with Brazil, but I have never met any indigenous Amazonians making use of it.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all, I'm for a more open migration policy, but I wonder if it's the whole story. It's one thing to welcome Spanish speaking migrants from elsewhere, another to just open the border for whoever. I doubt Spain does the latter.

I am going to look into those more, we're generally pretty into East Asian dishes. I have a lot of cookbooks I can consult.
We get plenty of carbs, though. The struggle is typically to get my kids to eat things which are NOT carbs.

I'm not really a fan of replacing meat with something else in traditional meat-based dishes, I'd rather invent new dishes or cook traditional veggiedishes.
In my personal opinion, only lasagna is lasagna, only a proper bolognese is a bolognese. I suppose it's semantics, but I _know_ what a bolognese is supposed to taste like and that ain't it.

I will say, though, that my sister used to train and work as a midwife in Stockholm and she says that Swedish people actually actually don't understand Danish.
Most Danes can understand Swedish and Norwegian, if they make an effort, and people talk a bit slower. But according to my sister Swedes honestly don't understand Danish at all. Which is... surprising.

no, that would be something 🙂 they stomp around a protected area and helps biodiversity and then we slaughter them in November and share the meat. We're paid by the local government for taking care of the area, which drives the cost of the meat down.
It's still not environmentally friendly to eat any kind of steak, but if you're not gonna stop completely it's a pretty good way of sourcing the meat.

Yes, I find it a somewhat annoying trait with many of the popular authors from the era.
They write so straight forward and direct that I end up bored. Take Dickens, for instance, all his villains are villains from start to finish, there are hardly any surprises, just the same pretty obvious point delivered with the subtlety of a sledgehammer.
Of course, intellectually I know the points seem obvious to me BECAUSE he made them obvious with his writing, but that still doesn't mean I am entertained.

I agree, but that's because linux tries to be as lightweight as possible.
Phone companies seem to be more interested in how much bloatware they can add to our devices, and also intentionally throttling older devices.
IIRC, Microsoft tried to do the same to the PC market back in the day but didn't succeed.
Maybe the EU will come through and force phone vendors to ship phones with unlocked bootloaders and a way to relock them after installing a new os. But they seem more interested in being able to install backdoors in all chat apps....

Not to mention; most government apps are so tied into the Google or Apple ecosystemts that they won't work on other operating systems - for "security reasons". Makes no sense.

I now live in Tilst, which is named after Tyr. He seems to have been an important deity here in Denmark with many place names starting 'Tir-'.

Imagine what releasing all that wealth into the economy would do inflation-wise, though.
I guess you'd have to pretend the dragon was still alive and release it at a controlled pace or use it as an emergency fund of some sort to avoid crashing the local economy completely with hyperinflation, worthless pensions, etc.

IIRC, the average number of speakers for a language is around 1000, so in a global perspective Swedish is not a small language :)
In fact, it is one the 100 most spoken languages in the world, with Danish clocking in at 160-something.
Out of roughly 7100 languages.

See, I dont't know enough about the Chinese cultural sphere to know how significant the cultural differences are between ethnic Chinese groups.
Are people Chinese in the same way they're European? Which is to say, ethnic group first and European second.
Or are they Chinese first and Han or Min or Yue second, like I am Danish first and then Samsing (from Samsø) second?
Are all Chinese cultures collectivist? And to which degree? Etc. etc.
I wish I knew more, and my bet is people in general know even less and think of the Chinese as ethnically monolithic which is vary far from true...

I think intermarrying with other cultures is a strong sign of integration or assimilation. The cultures who stay culturally coherent when surrounded by other cultures largely marry inside their own cultural sphere.
This is especially true for e.g. Jewish and Roma cultures, but also as you say the Chinese. Though, I don't know if it's all Chinese cultures or e.g. mainly Hokkien people?
I have a feeling it's cultures where the communal will is stronger than the individual will. Danes are very individualistic in their approach to life - in the sense that we look for meaning and purpose as individuals, not in a fixed role within e.g. a family unit (like 'father' or 'mother'). If your point of origin for meaning is your own happiness and wellbeing over that of the family or your cultural group you're bound to be more likely to marry someone you happen to like and not e.g. a cousin from back home.

It's interesting how some cultures integrate completely - assimilate, really - and some don't.
By and large, the descendants of former yugoslav refugees in Denmark are pretty much invisible in the statistics and also culturally.
On the other hand, in Tilst where I live there's a large Vietnamese community which has been here since the 70s and is still culturally strong. Many people still only speak Danish with thick accents, and they're likely to be at least 2nd generation in Denmark. Of course, others are fully integrated - there's bound to be some confirmation bias at play.
Even within the same cultural sphere you'll have differences. The Danes who emmigrated to the US more or less assimilated completely within a generation, whereas the Finns and the Swedes seemed to cling more to their nation of origin and language.
I find this kind of thing fascinating, especially because the public discourse around it is so simplistic.

Some years back I baked what it called a 'Katrineblommetærte' in Danish, an old type of sweet omelette with plums and almonds. It wasn't very good :D
I expect it was a local version of the French clafoutis where they forgot the flour, but maybe it was based on a tansy instead!

I mean, we let Russia take Crimea in 2014. We'll be lucky indeed if all they get is Crimea, I expect they will keep all occupied areas.
More likely, the US will broker a deal which Ukraine and EU cannot accept, and then use that as an excuse to withdraw completely.

Det gør vi bestemt også sådan bredt set - man siger indenfor lingvistikken at et sprog er en dialekt med en hær og en flåde :)
Jeg tror også at de fleste danskere vil være fortabt hvis de hører to sønderjyder, vendelboere, eller bornholmere snakke sammen internt. Var de regioner nu selvstændige ville vi kalde det et andet sprog.
Jeg var engang i Norge, hvor jeg snakkede med min venindes farmor der talte dialekt, og det var nemt at forstå og mindede en del om dialekten hvor jeg voksede op.
I bred forstand er dansk-norsk-svensk kun forskellige sprog af politiske årsager.

Den største forskel, sagde hun, var egentligt den humoristiske sans.
Danskerne har en ironisk og humoristisk tilgang til snartsagt alt, og det var bare som om at den omgangstone ikke helt blev grebet i Sverige, det brugte man ikke.
Jeg synes det er interessant, for jeg oplever et stort humorfællesskab med nordmænd - og jeg tænker, at det da ikke kan være så forskelligt ovre i Svealand? Men jeg har ikke nok kontakt med svenskere til at jeg selv kan teste.
Den virksomhed jeg arbejder for er dog lige blevet købt af et svensk firma, så måske jeg får muligheden snart :D

Min søster boede i et par år i Stockholm for a læse til jordemoder (barnmorska?), og hun sagde at hun forstod udemærket svensk - men svenskere generelt og stockholmere især forstår intet dansk.
Jeg tænker at det ikke kan passe, jeg tror at hvis man bruger 30 minutter på at tale sammen, så går det nok, med lidt velvilje på begge sider.

Det kommer an på hvordan du konfigurerer den :) Men jeg smed et bundkort med indbygget wi-fi i.
Den største forskel fra for 20 år siden og til nu er at grafikkort koster ufatteligt mange penge.
Jeg har købt bærbare i mange mange år, mest af praktiske hensyn, men for nogle år siden fik jeg en brugt stationær af en kollega, og må konstatere at jeg klart bedst kan lide stationære.
Nu var det tid til at erstatte den, så håber jeg den nye holder i 10 år.
