i'm literally an immigration lawyer lmao i know all of that and fuck microsoft and fuck capitalism. what i'm saying is that saying "shame ICE isn't arresting indians" is a shitty fucking thing to say and i cannot BELIEVE yall are defending it this hard. fuck casteism. fuck every person who is casteist and racist. but if your advocacy for abolishing ICE doesn't extend to people you don't like, even if you dislike them for good reasons, it's worthless.

2026-01-21 21:10:38 UTC

i am reading every single word. it's literally not unusual. it's ICE's job to be racist and protect $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. it's their literal job. it's what they're designed to do.

the point is I DO NOT CARE if the Indians in redmond are assholes. it's not relevant. no one should be arrested by ICE. advocating for people to be arrested by ICE is a shit position.
and what ICE is doing in minneapolis and redmond and all over is!!!!! ICE's!!!!!!! job!!!!! they ARE doing their job. ICE is an institution DESIGNED to promote white supremacy. they are doing EXACTLY what they're designed to do. just like when the cops murder Black & Brown & unhoused & poor people. that's what they're there for. to protect power and whiteness and money. "they should be doing their job properly" no they shouldn't fucking exist. and I'm the one arguing like a democrat???!

2026-01-21 20:33:27 UTC

- reply

i don't see how that's relevant. i believe your account of casteism and rudeness among indian people in redmond. that's not in dispute. i don't claim superior knowledge of redmond. i just think it's fucked up to say "shame they're not getting arrested." abolish ICE period even when you don't like the immigrants who are at risk of getting locked up and/or deported.

2026-01-21 20:22:10 UTC

- reply

you said "I have yet to hear of them picking up any Indians in Redmond. Shame really..."
i thought that meant "they should arrest Indians." i think it's fucked to say "shame that ice isn't arresting this group of people." i think that's regressive.
i don't think ice should arrest anyone because i think ice should be abolished and fucking trust me when i say that based on my my many visits to the tacoma detention center that once you're in there they absolutely one THOUSAND percent treat indians like shit. my colleague (we are deportation defense attorneys) had an indian client out of tacoma and i PROMISE he was treated horribly. i swear on my life that he was treated just as badly as my Guatemalan and Mexican detained clients. kept in the same absolutely miserable horrible conditions of medical neglect and denial of language access and inedible food etc etc etc.
if that makes you feel better, we're not on the same team

I mean yeah I grew up in Redmond and agree that caste is gross and rich people suck but you think they should be locked up and subjected to the rampant abuses of the immigration *carceral system for that?

If it makes you feel any better, I’m on multiple deportation defense listservs where people share their immigration court experiences and I have not heard of observers being arrested or brutalized unless they tried to prevent arrest (or were perceived as getting in the way) or were high profile in some way or themselves actually “subject to ICE jurisdiction” (e.g., undocumented) recently. Last “pure” observer arrest without those complicating factors I heard about was in May. Obviously seeming to be preventing arrest is squishy. Hope everything goes okay for your partner and the asylum-seeker & that neither of them is arrested.

(It’s YA and I was nervous that I’d hate it now as an ~adult~ but it really holds up IMO)
You don’t need to know Japanese (I don’t). The manga has an official English release & the original books are all translated into English online.
If you like stories about gay people blowing up prisons, you should read No.6 by Asano Atsuko #amreading #books #anime #begaydocrime

2025-10-10 20:31:33 UTC

if anyone else #onhere is obsessed with hit 2011 novel/manga/anime series No.6 you should know that there's a sequel series coming out now (you can buy the ebooks!) and it's VERY political, VERY fucked up, and VERY gay. the original series was motivated by the aftermath of 9/11 & she states in this interview she was pushed to write the sequel because of the genocide in gaza. https://cocreco.kodansha.co.jp/cocreco/general/books/juvenileliterature/no6/5PHRr

No one asked but my favorite challah recipe is this one: https://makeitdairyfree.com/vegan-challah-bread/
I don’t even think they’re Jewish but it’s the best IMO. I’ve made it with olive oil or vegetable oil instead of melted vegan butter and it was good that way, too! (For a while I was baking a loaf every Friday)
