Ok, new policy. I'm turning off boosts for any account that boosts disturbing political content. And I'm unfollowing accounts that toot the same kind of crap (which I pretty much already do). There are handful of folks here that I really enjoy following and interacting with and I don't want to leave them. But I have no qualms about leaving others behind, especially if they're trying to turn Mastodon into a political sounding board or battleground. I'll get this dialed in if it kills me.

I think I'm going to have to get off social media. Even my filters, which filter out at least 80% of what appears here, aren't doing a sufficient job to keep the daily bullshit that will face us for the next four years out of my face.
Turning off boosts for everyone should help, but it will likely also reduce what I see here to about a dozen toots a day. Too many people would rather echo someone else than post something original.
I fear for the mental health of my country.

I guess we won’t be eating as many strawberries for the next four years. Or much of anything fresh, for that matter. When was the last time you saw a US-born person doing any kind of manual agriculture work?

Amazingly, I slept like a log. But I think the CBN gummy I ate right before bedtime had a lot to do with that. I’d rather have one of those than take another NyQuil.

Well, much to my amazement, after stopping twice for fuel, once for a flat tire, and once to get all six tires on my trailer replaced, I STILL managed to do more than 500 miles today and get all the way into South Dakota. When I arrived at my truckstop destination after dark, I managed to back my rig into a narrow spot between two other rigs. Having dinner in the boat now. There must be 75 trucks at this place and every single one of them has their engine engine running. Except mine. 🤣 #RoadTrip

0515 and I’m up and ready to finish packing up for the long drive west. I need to clean and organize the inside of the boat, since I’ll be sleeping in it at truckstops along the way. Then, hopefully, the mechanic will come and fix the electrical issue on the boat. A quick drive to a hardware store to pick up some hoses, and the boat will get lifted onto the trailer. With luck, I’ll have my route and at least the first few permits ready. I’m hoping to leave here by noon. #RoadTrip… (1/3)

I'm considering adding a Starlink to my boat and departing whether I should put it on its own battery. So I'm starting to research this stuff, too.
