a year or two ago, I put my ice coffee (in a glass jar) on the hard tonneau cover on my pickup as I loaded up. I drove out of the barn, up the driveway, and as I turn left (after pausing to look for traffic) I noticed it in my rearview. I try to stop, ever-so-gently, but that stop was what caused it to slide forward and tip when it hit the hinge in the cover.
I lost the coffee, but luckily the glass was fine, as it stayed on the cover and only tipped over onto plastic.

I always thought I wanted to be able to teleport. I mean, sometimes it really is about the journey, but sometimes you just want to get there.

it is good to use for foil pouch stew on the campfire: put a big cabbage leaf on either side of the pouch, to separate the real food from the foil so it doesn't stick when you throw it in the campfire.
Tell the kids they don't have to eat the cabbage as long as they eat the other vegetables.

oh I was envisioning reading a paperback. I wouldn't reccomend that while driving!
This book might be fine to listen to as an audiobook while driving if traffic is light, I'm not sure. Personally I don't like audiobooks while driving because I find I have to focus too much on the road and end up rewinding a lot. I don't have that issue with podcasts as much, I think because conversations tend to be less information-dense.

it has been a while since I read it, but I remember enjoying it a lot. You should definitely read it. I don't know how your commute is, but if you can get lost in a book for a while, go for it. If it is best to maintain a high degree of situational awareness, maybe save it for home reading.

yeah, I agree that using AI to evaluate protected speech is not a valid use.
I guess I was trying to draw a line between government using tools like AI to work more effectively, and delegating authority and decision making to AI. The former seems like it is probably okay, and the latter is definitely not.

I'm curious what they mean by AI here. Are they using it to make decisions (very troubling) or just to find instances for humans to look into (sounds like maybe a useful tool, assuming the job is worth doing in the first place)?
And that leads to the bigger concern here. If these students, who are here legally, are participating in protected speech, they should absolutely be protected from prosecution or persecution (including having their visa revoked).
