- very Veeerrryyy many moons ago ago I was messing around with a similar idea, then Atuin showed up and basically and fortunately, nuked my spaghetti attempts. I dusted off some old zsh-oriented figments and leaned on AI to stitch in the Bash support and a bit of Python - sorry for that. Dropping the gist below if you’re curious. Fair warning: it’s a toy and it’s staying that way lol And yeah, ghostty is the real deal :P

My Christmas break started a few days ago, and between drinking tea, cooking and finally having time to read real books, I took the opportunity to rebuild my personal, self-hosted observability micro lab. The setup is fairly standard. It integrates Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Alloy into a convenient, ready-to-run package using Docker Compose. I've just released Tikentoken, an Elixir toy library and CLI tool for experimenting with AI tokenization using Ollama models. It can tokenize text, compute embeddings, and even chat - with a convenient fallback on a basic mock when Ollama is offline or not installed/available.
The documentation is much more extensive than the code itself, as I mainly published it to keep my dev notes organized.
Since English isn't my first language, I used ollama and a few free models to help refine some of the comments and the docs. Sorry for that.

If you want to see what bullying in sports looks like, just watch the behavior of the spectators in Montreal — during yesterday’s match between Mboko and Rybakina, and again today with Osaka. Honestly, it’s embarrassing. Canada is better than this.

So long, Zed — until next time.
I started using Zed, as soon as it launched, switching from Helix and Sublime. I welcomed the changes and accepted the risks of such a young tool.
I was drawn to the concept and the promise of a fast, ergonomic editor built for developers.
Lately, though, it seems the focus is shifting more toward building an AI client multiplexer —and that’s totally fair. The rapid rollout of AI support features makes that direction clear, and the user experience even fuzzier.
At the same time, those of us who just want a reliable, high-performance editor, and gd ergonomics for software development, feel a bit left behind.
That’s okay — maybe this is where all tools are headed. But until Zed settles on what it wants to be, I’ll be going back to Sublime, Vim, and Helix.

No. I completely understand, and you should choose whichever approach makes the most sense to you. Personally, I prefer composing and passing functions rather than “renaming” built-in ones—especially when working in a team or on a shared codebase. If I ever have trouble remembering what a specific Enum.filter does, I’ll simply define a function like this:
def reject(item), do: …
Enum.filter(items, &reject/1)
And I’d use the same strategy for functions like select and others.
(Of course there is Enum.reject/2, but used a “reject” fun here, for brevity)

I actually prefer that to a specialized command like select, in your example. It allows the user to filter what they want in or out.
You can also treat Enum.filter like a low-level API and write a select macro on top if that makes your code friendlier to the reader

- I implemented a similar feature for a client, and from a user experience standpoint, the client was very pleased with the workflow.
I used a "find as you type" system for tags, where he could select only the relevant tags from the suggested list. These tags then filtered the articles accordingly. In my case, it was a bit more complex since I combined the selected tags with full-text search, treating the combination as a dynamic, user-controlled filter, to refine search results further.
That approach would work well for me too, with the GoodLinks app—though I may be a bit biased ;)
