Plus of course once AI has replaced the last job, and our society collapses under the weight of forever wars and its own contradictions, Apple will be there with the best machines to do things without any AI, because there will be no energy supply and we'll power our Macs with solar batteries and wind up crank shafts

I seem to recall that was a different thing, in that for it to work some of your information ended up on third party servers, outside the security perimeter. I seem to remember writing something at the time, but can't find it now, frustratingly!

Certainly that's my understanding here, using Google Gemini as a kind of white label service, running on Apple servers and, presumably, protected by the privacy central to the Apple experience.
I pondered other ways this might work in the blog today - so could Private Cloud Compute become a kind of intermediary to AI requests made of other services? That wouldn't be complete protection, but would be much more protection, I think, which will matter more as people become more demanding of sovereign and private cloud based AI services, pending edge devices assimilating such capacity
