I don't think I'll ever manage to make food that looks more like a #blender tutorial than this.
Found some random vegetarian lychee jelly at our local Asian grocerer and tried to experiment with food dye and the only mould we had.

A fun creation in our #canberra garden, a trellis made from a couple of pieces of temporary fencing.
It's a bit over two metres high and has half a dozen nice little pumpkins and a huge climbing tomato, and around the base some surprise carrots and beetroots, zinnias and alyssum

My parents were medical students in the era when people acquired skeletons of questionable provenance to learn anatomy.
A bit over fifty years later, I'm standing in the unit my mother is moving into as removalists bring all her stuff from interstate.
One of the burly gentlemen just brought in an old wooden box that's taped shut, with a surgical theatre drape covering it, with 'Fragile' written in texta. Much like the one in this ABC story. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-12/human-bones-teaching-skeleton-medicine/103763388
It's wild that this box of bones has travelled across three continents to this new housing development. It would be so incomprehensible to the person the bones originally belonged inside.
I know my mum would like to 'dispose' of them in a thoughtful way, but what does that even look like and would it be legal?

At my mum's for Christmas. She is moving away from the small town where I grew up and she has lived for about 48 years.
There are so many amazing things in this house. Vintage surgical equipment. A beautiful little John Braidwood and sons boudoir grand piano, circa 1897, that needs a loving home. So much heavy furniture that came out from Kenya in the 80s with my grandparents, including a set of shallow draws containing a sea shell collection.
My favourite things though are the slightly preposterous and pointless things, like this swizzle stick. How I wish I lived in an age when such things were made.

So I do wonder if there is a better way to do this in #rstats
I'm relatively new to dealing with large survey data but I have been do a bunch of stuff with these WHO surveys that have anywhere between 600-4000 columns.
Finding the variables I want (lacking particularly good data dictionaries) can be challenging - but the great thing is they are generally in Stata files with labelled columns. So I have this handy function that writes them all out to the clipboard to dump into xl to make it a bit easier to look through

I knew working at a #university as an #academic was going to have it's ups and downs, but I didn't think I would spend so much time baffled by how the places runs.
So my uni doesn't have two cents to rub together, literally operating at over $100M deficit and we are reminded of this in every (however infrequent) communication for the organisations leadership.
Yesterday they announced that they had "identified the need for an independent external review" of the college I'm in, to be led by a prominent Australian.
I can't imagine how much that must cost, but I certainly assume they are expecting to make the money back through the outcome of the review... Wouldn't it be more efficient just to ask people to leave politely?
