Good stuff this is why I enjoy nostr. Try having this exchange on twitter 😂 Don’t disagree what humility is but rather that humility without Christ is simply self denial. BUT with Christ humility becomes a natural outpouring of His love. I believe that is what CS Lewis is trying to emphasize in the first chapter of “weight of glory”. I am no theologian just a sinner trying to be a better reflection of Him so take this with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the reply and I appreciate this quote but IMO “humility” as interchangeable with “unselfishness” as both are an appeal to self-denial. Whereas Christian love is a fulfillment of the human condition which overflows in humility and unselfishness but not as an end in itself.

PARENTING ADVICE NEEDED: Dungeons and Dragons + Magic
I was a farm kid growing up whose choice was either play sports/music OR help on the farm after school. I was not a stellar athlete but went to a small school so was able to play. Now I live in a large town and my middle school son doesn't want to play sports/music and only wants to do Magic and D&D after school clubs. My concern is that he is isolating himself into what is comfortable and fun but not necessarily beneficial. I am curious of the perspective for anyone that had a different childhood than me. Should I challenge him to do other activities (math/science club, chess club, sports, band, guitar/piano lessons, etc.)
I figured NOSTR would be a great place to throw this out since it is so diverse, and would ask you to repost so that I can get some more engagement.

Hung with college buddies tonight. Great guys, all successful, extremely smart, great families, strong marriages, leaders in their communities/churches. Salt of the earth men but they can’t see past the politics, gaslighting and consequences of a fiat system. I threw out a few nuggets to get them to think deeper on incentives and 1st principles but it went unnoticed. Just throwing this into the Nostr void….We are so early! I am so grateful for the clarity that Bitcoin has given me.

All right screw it guys/gals. Gonna be honest. They say don’t use leverage, etc. I am all in! HELOC maxed out, rental properties HELOC maxed out, 0% for 18 month credit card maxed out and a small Bitcoin backed loan on Strike to test it out. All proceeds are in cold storage Bitcoin, hosted Bitcoin miners in 4 countries (nonKYC and geographically diverse just in case), Bitcoin mining stocks + call options, Bitcoin treasury stocks + call options. I have a written plan on when I will pay off some of the debts but now is not that time. We are going to slay fiat! Its days are over and humanity’s greatest days are just over the horizon. Stopped by a friend at church today and he said “happy all time high week”. I disregarded and talked about something else. Eventually you get to the point where ATH loses its luster. Instead you feel remorse not just because I could have stacked harder but because all the people that disregarded Bitcoin that needed it the most. I think about Jesus and Bitcoin more and more. There are strong correlations with evangelism, humility, faith, logic, compassion, etc. IMO bitcoin is ushering in a renaissance of low time preference faith and a revitalization of the Body of Christ. I detest Church Inc. but that is what fiat and low time preference created. We will build beautiful things again out of a desire to reflect Him who created and sustains us. Jesus + Bitcoin = 🚀 for my children’s future 🌍.

3-4 years ago I was depressed regarding my kid’s future. I remember a talk with my dad and I teared up thinking through the mess that our generation will be leaving them with. After a lot more study and momentum I am the most optimistic I have ever been. There are definite dark timelines we could go down but the last couple years have given me so much hope for my kids future world. I just hope more kids could envision a future that is outside the current system. I am in it to change the 🌍 and NGU is a nice benefit. Our kids are going to get to live in possibly the most abundant and flourishing time in history for ALL humanity. We just need to not blow ourselves up first.

Just saw this reply and am glad to hear that your dad is supportive. Mine is always supportive but reminds me to be careful. He is 💯 in farming and has no other investments. He has almost gone bankrupt 2x due to market $ and disease issues the last 40 years. Yet he tells me to be cautious. Being a parent who risked everything and worked harder than most could imagine has to be difficult as you know what it took and don’t want to see your kids go through the same ups and downs.

Many don’t want to make it worse but they can’t/won’t think through 1st principles. I tried talking to my wife today about deflation & how it steals the savings and productivity gains exponentially from the least of us. She said “i don’t understand or care what you are saying but I am glad that you like it.” She is a passionate liberal that is stuck in the MSM psyop of TDS, red v blue, etc and can’t see past the distraction. I am 6 years deep into Bitcoin, 1,000’s of hours, and have all of our savings in it and she is just glad the $USD value is up. She trusts me with anything monetarily or economically but gets mad when she talks about issues and I take it back to the incentives or structure. We need liberal women to understand why Bitcoin is valuable to those fighting for social justice and equity but getting them on board is extremely difficult. They definitely aren’t on NOSTR 😂. For years I have been trying to explain Bitcoin to my farmer dad. He seemed so close last time we talked as it clicked that Bitcoin was a globally distributed ledger. Today he told me he is buying $1MM more worth of farm ground, that is negative cash flow, as an investment b/c they aren’t making more of it. Later I told him I am selling one of my rental houses and buying BTC. He asked why and I said because they aren’t making any more of it 🤷‍♂️. Hopefully we are both right…I won’t mind be more right though 😂

They could have that be part of the funding of the treasury. They could issue $5MM in treasuries at 4% (currently 5%) + 1 BTC as a treasury offering. They buy the BTC with printed money to sell the treasury. Just an idea but it would follow the Saylor convertible bond idea but instead of a share conversion the holder gets super stable cash returns with a high probability rocket fuel built in.

Bessent needs 10 year bond rates low. Market doesn’t trust they won’t devalue $USD. Just add a little Bitcoin to the 10 year+ bond issuance (not to the short duration) and voila you threaded the needle. This is Saylor at nation state level. I don’t see another reason that they are moving so fast towards Bitcoin. It is the only boat with enough horsepower to get the U.S. out of the debt whirlpool that they are in. This kicks the can down the road for the $USD but it looks like the only solution that I can see without major political or societal consequences. If Bitcoin wins or loses this solves Bessent’s dilemma.

I want to not like Paolo because of Tether but every time I listen to him I am grateful that the person in charge of the largest stablecoin is based and recognizes Bitcoin as the end game. He knows that he is just bridging the time gap and using his profits to invest in Tether’s eventual replacement. All I am saying is we could have a MUCH worse CEO for the largest stablecoin.

Awesome to hear your story. I tried to lever up my Bitcoin holdings by taking out loans in the last run up and lost all my gains. We all learn the hard way. I became a Christian in college and devoted thousands of hours to learning and studying my faith. Was passionate about helping change the world and did mission work. Started a family and worked a job for 13 years before finding Bitcoin. 💩 coins and get rich were my motives but I stayed curious and it relit that passion I had when I 1st became a Christian. It was a revelation that created within my soul a revolution. I have hope for my kid’s future in both this world and the next. You have a bright future just stay curious and read as many books as possible as you will be tempted to chase shiny distractions.

I have moved from trying to convince to passionately learning as much as I can and that becoming part of my identity. Eventually people ask and I just try to ask them questions and offer some resources if they are interested. I still have yet to come along g someone in my everyday life that it has all clicked. Nostr is nice but doesn’t replace going to have a beer and conversation.

I started with an old M30 for heating my garage in winter which was a great learning experience. Got the bug, ran the numbers and realized I needed cheaper power. Looked at a bunch of hosts and want with Hashlabs. They are awesome, low host rate and low asic prices. I run 20 s21s, 3 t21s and an m63s so far. I just keep rolling the profits back into more miners while hashprice is low…the price of miners is based on current hashprice. Once the hashprice pumps over $70-80 I will probably just hold the non-KYC Bitcoin. Setting up a node is next. Just like you I love talking about Bitcoin but try not to force it.

I mine for heat with an old M30 but if you really want to invest in mining you will have to use a host to make money and scale. I use Hashlabs they have been awesome to work with. They host around $.065/kwh and have really good prices on asics. If interested let me know and I can send you their contact info or Telegram channel.

Started with an old Whatsminer M30 bought on marketplace for a garage heater. Quickly realized that it was not profitable unless running for heat. Moved to hosting a few miners with Hashlabs ($.06/kwh hosting + good prices for miners) and decided to pull equity in my real estate and go all in. Now run around 4000TH and just keep rolling proceeds to buy more (adding another 600TH next week). They have been awesome to work with and have helped me scale up profitably.

This week I accomplished what was supposed to be a lifelong goal of mining a block. Anyways, I have no Bitcoin friends, live in a small town in fly over country and even my wife doesn’t care but if there is anyplace that I can celebrate it is on Nostr. Tonight I am putting my kids to bed, pouring a glass of whiskey and going to sit on my front porch in the dark and pray.
