thanks for writing this. it echoes a lot of my feeling that I will never again have a traditional "tech" job. still very much want to and will do tech work for orgs fighting against this fascist trend in society. never again for a big tech, or big tech aligned org.

it does seem weird they would use that justification to remove the link. thought at first they might be consolidating for W3C-only resources, but there are non-W3C guides under the `Documentation` section (which is where I would guess the `ap-next` guide would also fit).
outside of clarifying underspecified pieces of the protocol, and highlighting some useful FEPs, how is the `ap-next` guide a "fork"?

I'm hesitant to follow this line of reasoning, it plays directly into the AI/LLM hype. "our model so dangerous, much powerful"
I call bullshit, some engineer(s) likely pointed these bots to hack a target, and gave it access to the tools to do so. what makes more sense, the biggest grifters on the planet pulling another grift, or a sci-fi scenario where the "AI breaches containment"?
also, fuck the NYT and Ezra Klein

I don't understand the EC here, like just use Mastodon, or pay Mastodon/fedi devs to build a "custom" (read still 100% interoperable) version. None of that requires VC funding, and Mastodon is already EU developed (last I checked Germany is in the EU).

ah, then yeah I more-or-less agree with you. if people are worried about their browser not handling password storage properly, use a proper password manager, adjust according to security/privacy concerns.
that being said, secure storage (of a certain kind) exists in the browser, and M$lop could be *much* better at practicing defensive programming.

I encrypt all passwords in keyper with per-session keys that decrypt the password on copy/reveal, and re-encrypt after. this minimizes the amount of time passwords are exposed clear-text in RAM. it is not that hard, you just have to care.
please stop apologizing for the centibillion dollar megacorp.

taking that definition, there is no democratic society (in the form of nation-states) that exists on the planet. there may be pockets of democracy in the form of worker-cooperatives, and other direct-democratic orgs on a small-to-medium scale. democracy is stamped out by global capital, whether private- or state-controlled.

"the US has always been a democracy for the ruling class, which is the capital owning class."
also known as a plutocracy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plutocracy), which is not a form of democracy.

the US is not, and has not been, any form of democracy since Citizens United passed. studies have been done to show that the majority of the populations opinions have close to no influence on elected representatives. the only two viable national parties both serve corporatist interests. but nice try victim blaming

what a shit take dude. rockets being perfected by nazis, project paperclip, and now a neonazi in charge of one of the largest space tech programs on the planet, along with a bullshit generating LLM.
so yeah, maybe this is all fash tech, and maybe taking a stand of "I'm not touching that shit with a thousand-meter pole" is not "neoliberal purity culture". and ollama of all things? the shit pumped out by fucking Meta? are you shitting me?

yup, and when you do that in C you create memory corruption. In Rust, you get a safe panic, with a backtrace.
There is also extensive documentation, and culture around practicing panic-safety: https://doc.rust-lang.org/nomicon/exception-safety.html
So tell me again how a megacorp's shitty coding practices are Rust's fault again?

no, this is shitty coding from #Cloudflare. This is inside a function that returns a `Result`. They absolutely should have bubbled up the error with a `?` operator. Don't blame Rust for this fucking clown show.
