We're spreading the word once more that you can become a sponsor of Bridgetown, the only hybrid site generator in the #Ruby #WebDev ecosystem (aka you can build static sites & dynamic server-rendered pages via a unified system).
It powers websites for Sidekiq, RuboCop, Lookbook, and other tools in the #OpenSource ecosystem. And we're *serious* about our ethical stance supporting handcrafted coding enthusiasts (and blocking LLM-generated contributions).
Join the party! 🥳

Bridgetown is a pillar of the #Ruby ecosystem, powering sites ranging from RuboCop to Sidekiq to Lookbook, many conference sites, and a whole lot of blogs & portfolios.
We are counting on your direct financial support to help keep Bridgetown stable & well-maintained long into the future.
Currently we're not close to reaching our Q2 2026 fundraising goal, with only two weeks left.
Please consider becoming a sponsor (both PayPal & Stripe supported via Liberapay) today!

We're thrilled to announce that the Bridgetown #Ruby #WebDev Framework has reached 12% of its monthly Q2 2026 fundraising goal…
…though that means we still need to close the 88% gap before the end of June. 😅
(It's OK, we only started this effort two weeks ago with the release of v2.2.)
Please consider sponsoring us. 🙏 And be sure to mark your calendars for Thursday, June 4 10AM Pacific for a special pledge drive event! ☺️

Y’hear that rumbling? Feel it? That's the seismic shift which just happened, because today…
The Bridgetown #Ruby #WebDev framework just launched our first first-party theme. 🤯
Introducing Willamette.
It's a feature-filled, highly-customizable, “from the creators who brought you Bridgetown” website theme designed initially for text-based web publishing…but we’re just getting started! 🥳
Read all the deets, try out the public beta, and let us know what you think.

When it came time to decide on the codename for Bridgetown 2.2, we just couldn’t bear the thought of moving away from our beloved “River City” moniker.
So we turned to our crack marketing team, loaded them up with local apple cider and Oregon Marionberry scones, locked them in a chill café adjacent to a food cart pod, and let them work their special brand of magic.
Introducing “Verdant River City”, the latest iteration of the our #Ruby #WebDev framework. 🎉

Happy Birthday Bridgetown! 🥳
Six years into this #Ruby web framework & static site generator, feels like we've accomplished so much…yet there's so much left we'd still like to do. But that's #WebDev for ya. Keeps everyone on their toes.
Here's to another trip 'round the sun! 🌞🎈

You better watch out (I’m telling you why): the latest release of our merry little #Ruby #WebDev framework is coming to town!
Yes indeed, Bridgetown 2.1 “Festive River City” is here, with, er, festive new features, a snappier CLI, under-the-hood refactoring & infrastructure work, and a celebration of Ruby 4.0 as we head into 2026.
Happy Holidays and we’ll see y’all in the New Year! 🎉 🎆

Codenamed “Festive River City 🥳” (and coming a mere three months after the 2.0 release!) With the end-of-year holidays upon us, we’re excited to be presenting several exciting new features and yet more under-the-hood refactoring & infrastructure work which sets us up well for future feature development in 2026.
One of our favorites: external content sources for file-based digital gardens, wikis, and more!

ICYMI: we have a new #Matrix #chat room!
We’re not dumping Discord, but we want to offer a true #FOSS alternative. If you have't given @matrix a look in a while, the UX for Element has improved significantly and using it is…fun? 😁
Drop in a give us a hearty hello! 👋

Happy Halloween! 🎃
In unrelated news (unless you find decentralized networking protocols to be spooooky), we have a new #Matrix #chat room.
It'd not a replacement for our Discord, we just want to offer a true #FOSS alternative. @npub1m9z…whzq has clearly worked hard lately on good UX for Element and it appears to be pretty snazzy!
Stop on by and say Hi! 👋

(Re)Introducing the only #Ruby #WebDev framework which bridges the gap between static Markdown sites and fullstack database-driven application deployments.
Bridgetown 2.0 “River City” has been released! 🎉
This version has long been in the hopper, and it’s chock full of major quality-of-life improvements. It marks the arrival of a mature and stable foundation on which to build the next generation of content sites and “vanilla” web applications.

Happy Birthday Bridgetown! 🎉
Five years ago today, a project was born to create a new kind of web framework—certainly one unlike any previously seen in the #Ruby community.
(And yes, we're still working on getting v2.0 final out the door—soon, #WebDev friends, soon!)

Bridgetown 2024: Year in Review
This year has been a pivotal one for the Bridgetown #Ruby #WebDev framework. We started off 2024 on some conceptual shaky ground, uncertain about the direction Bridgetown should head in next, but over the spring and summer we really hit our stride and are finishing out the year in a strong position.
Some stats for Bridgetown in 2024:
6 releases, 3 in the 2.0 beta line
15 contributors across releases
Grew by roughly 200 stars on GitHub…

Beta 3 of the Bridgetown 2.0 web framework has now been released, featuring a major performance boost for full builds, ESM support for all local configuration files of the frontend pipeline (no more CommonJS!), i18n support for fast refresh, and more.
And ICYMI, all of the amazing features of Bridgetown 2.0 such as new tech baselines, better defaults, greater dev performance, enhanced full-stack application support, and a whole lot more.
