I think this one best reflects my fondest dreams, but there's a lot of options for reuse wherever it makes sense. (And deconstruction and rewilding also play huge roles in the campaign).

it's an idea I've revisited a few times - we're gearing up to publish a solarpunk TTRPG campaign partially set in a development of abandoned McMansions around a golf course repurposed into a modern agricultural community and food forest. The players in each test group had a lot of fun describing terrible ugly megahouses and exploring the mini villages they'd become. I'm working on a gamebook version and looking forward to building those scenes out a little more

I also gathered up my notes on embanked/sunken greenhousesand walipinis here: https://wiki.slrpnk.net/writing:winter_greenhouses
(The slrpnk.net/c/writing community has a wiki where we share our worldbuilding research)
Be sure to shore, slope, or bench any excavation for safety and to monitor any confined space for heavier-than-air gases (which are sometimes produced by decomposition and can be quite dangerous)

@npub1hqe…nt6l is doing some awesome stuff with mutual aid and other activism
@npub1f39…mhn9 and @npub14ls…cydh are doing really cool homesteading stuff
@npub18va…yv97 and @npub17ch…z0fg do a lot of really cool DIY projects
@npub1san…jgxu also does a bunch of cool activism, trash cleanups and other ecological work
This is just the folks who immediately sprang to mind, apologies to anyone I left out - there's tons of folks on here doing great work

Another look at the industrial side of #solarpunk - a small scale appliance fabrication place. The folks here download open source designs and create things people need using standardized parts and stock materials. Their customers are library networks and individuals who want/need something custom.
I wrote more about how items might be designed in a solarpunk society and library economy here: https://wiki.slrpnk.net/writing:repairability_in_solarpunk

Hello #solarpunk and #diy folks! I'm working on a page about High Context Living for the slrpnk.net/c/writing worldbuilding resource wiki (https://wiki.slrpnk.net/writing:start) and I'd love to hear any examples/stories you have from your own systems or ones you've seen!
What's high context living? I'm working on a definition but I think the zine that named the concept is probably the best way to introduce it (used with permission from the author who wishes to remain anonymous):

This is really cool, I love these (in this case, potential) river restoration projects! Piece-by-piece reestablishing some incredibly important habitats and creating some really lovely community spaces in the process - the map of proposed changes is very cool

The StorySeedLibrary/Andrewism Disaster Preparedness/Response art collab just wrapped up, so it's time to share my piece!
I wanted to focus on the preparedness side, and to talk about levee removal and house shifting. Both are super practical, effective, solarpunk practices already being done IRL. The airship is probably the most dramatic way to shift a house, but I think I finally got the scale and details right (hold might be a bit large). CC-BY as always

That's an interesting question! I also think about this a lot, I think because I have so many things I'd happily do full time if i wasn't dependent on paying work for my survival. I've certainly identified a lot of callings for people to pursue in my stories, I'll have to think about the framework I use for sifting what I feel are believable callings from work under capitalism, and see if there's anything in it that someone else could use...

We've added a new page on phytoremediation, mycoremediation, and bioremediation to the slrpnk.net/c/writing solarpunk worldbuilding resource wiki: https://wiki.slrpnk.net/writing:phytoremediation_bioremediation_mycoremediation
It's very much a work in progress so if you'd like to make additions or corrections feel free to reach out!
Similarly, if you have your own writing research to share, or you'd like to put together an introduction to your special interest so writers get it right, we'd love to hear from you!

If you know (or are!) someone who can work in the sort of painterly, exaggerated but realistic-ish style frequently used by pulp adventure books and magazines in the 50s and 60s we'd love to talk!
We've still got most of the funds from the first commission attempt available, and can flex a bit to get this made.
For a bit of an idea what we're looking for, I've attached a sketch from when we were talking things out with our first artist.

For the last couple years I've been working on a #solarpunk TTRPG treasure hunting adventure where the players search a mostly-abandoned town (undergoing deconstruction and rewilding) for industrial waste illegally dumped there decades before.
I had hired an artist to paint the cover art in the style of pulp adventure novels, as the campaign inverts and riffs on those sort of lost city tropes. Unfortunately they had to drop out for life-happened reasons. So we're looking for an artist!

I think you and I fundamentally disagree on the role and utility of violence in media and especially in solarpunk. We've both written about it elsewhere - current events as they are I'm sure as hell not going to try to expunge violence and conflict from any genre claiming to be punk.
But I also think you're misinforming people about the nature of this game.

In the games I've run the players were focused primarily on investigation, conversation/negotiation, and exploration. When I threw unreasonable people and complex situations where they didn't have all the information at them, they did me proud by roleplaying them as reasonable people who talked first and built community, and because this seems to be important to you, THAT's what they were mechanically rewarded for.

I don't expect this to sink in at this point but in actual gameplay, well over 90% of play time I've seen was spent with that 'single dice roll' mechanic. It works remarkably well for a narrative-and-roleplay-heavy game. This thinking that the number of rules somehow sets the most common gameplay rather than that the most streamline one is the most used seems like it comes from just skimming the rulebook to me.
