Internet hive mind.
My dad's old Synology NAS is nearly full, mainly it is used to backup his desktop on which he edits his photos. The backup is just rsync so syncs one way, but doesn't remove duplicates when he moves things round.
I'm looking for a tool I can point at a mounted volume that will find duplicates and near duplicates (e.g. cropped versions) of photos and create an index.
Anybody know of a OpenSource tool that does this? Don't want to have to install Immich

OpenReach started the fibre rollout for my town before the pandemic.
They "finished" it for my street last week in October and marked it as ready to order.
Install booked at first available slot of mid November. This failed because all the work in October didn't actually check all the ducts were clear.
3 weeks later and the latest outlook for them to fix the duct (not complete the install) is mid February.
Oh, by the way my copper was cut off 3 days after the failed install

If '0.0.0.0' binds to all local IPv4 addresses and '::' binds to all IPv6 (and IPv4 addresses on dual homed machines)
Why is there no equivalent that binds to both '127.0.0.1' and '::1'

The podcast I listen to on a Sunday morning didn't have a new episode this morning and it's website isn't loading from a UK IP address (It loads just fine when proxied via in Irish address).

Interesting. My default Static IP address from @npub1sv0…rq9x is flagged as not in the UK by a vendor.
But my /29 is not.
Both belong to the same AS that lists them as UK based.
(said vendor has no IPv6 connectivity so it's not that)

Anybody using one of the UGreen NAS boxes?
It looks like they are easy to swap the shipped OS with nearly anything, so wondering about it as a replacement for my 11 year old Synology (and given their recent announcement about drives...)
Looking at one of the 4 bay models and running Ubuntu + ZFS

I have picocom on my laptop connected to the USB to UART adaptor to the StarFive.
Those actions would be on the StarFive via the UART console.
I did all this totally headless (no HDMI or keyboard attached to the StarFive, all UART or SSH)

OK, so this failed again with a fresh new bookworm image.
But it looks like I'm not the only one seeing this.

It appears to be triggered by roaming between APs with the same SSID, so only a problem for people with more complex wifi setups.
I'm currently testing one of the test firmwares listed (test5) in that issue and it's been up overnight when it was failing after 10 mins when I booted the fresh image.

Much messing about with firmware later and it's working again. I've also set over_voltage=2 to see if it stays up.
But I also really need to cut a new image for the card as buster is very dead

hmm, has the WiFi died on mu Pi Zero W 2.
It's been falling off the network after a couple of days for a while, but it always came back when rebooted.
I think it's totally dead now, it's not even showing up as an interface (when logged in over USB Ethernet or serial)

So this may be hot take, but let's put it out there and see if anybody can find a flaw.
Now all the UK Apple users data is unencrypted it's also fair game for current US administration, especially as we've already seen all the big US Tech companies bend the knee.
And this is back ups of things like address books/contact lists, which is the basis for network analysis which has always been the intelligence holly grail

I enabled the #FediBuzz relay for a couple of HashTags to see if I was missing any messages and it appears to be pulling in a few more sources.
But as well as getting added to my HashTag and Federated timeline columns they are also showing up in my Home column, which I wouldn't have expected.
Is this the correct behaviour?

EE FTTP at my folks keeps dropping to either 50/50 or 100/50 as apposed to the 300/50 they are paying for. Power cycling the PON fixes it for a while.
Any Suggestions (apart from tearing EE a new one...) I probably can't get them to move to @npub1sv0…rq9x until the remaining 12m of the 24m contract is up.

Still getting phishing email for services hosted on *.me.uk.com domains (these are hoping you don't notice the .com on the end of a valid .me.uk domain).
Reporting appears to have been ignored, any suggestions as to where to escalate to next? NCA maybe as the domain is obviously targeting UK residents?
