Most developers on here don't seem to like simple things. Anytime you come up with something that is extremely elegant, reliable, and easy to implement and use, they come right back at you with something convoluted, messy, and garish, for no good reason.
Oh, that sounds great, girly, but those are rooky codes. We need to pump that code up. Let's add some doo-dads, transpose it to the third dimension, add a landing port for Superman, rewrite it in Rust...
They just get off on everything being complicated because that is more impressive to other developers. Why write 5 lines of code when you could write 104710 lines, KWIM?
Besides, if they just wrote the same 5 lines you did, then they would be _reusing your idea_ which is apparently the absolute horror. I mean,

It's not complete. I am using three more kinds, for signing commits, releases, and transferring ownership of the repo. And I added more Tags to the repo announcement.
I've been rapid-prototyping an implementation that uses them and I am still sorting out a few edge cases, such as forking and cloning to localhost instead of a public domain.

Instead of verifying only the repo (we also have that), you can verify all of the commits, individually. You can see that in the commit history, including the userbadge of the signer. ✍🏻

Don't forget that the CLI is separate and allows you to AUTH onto the git server and *sign the commits with your Nostr key*.
Also remember that *you actually only need normal Nostr relays and the normal git CLI to do any of this stuff*. There is no extra server or separate data store. The clients are just for convenience and UX.

GitRepublic Web has already come a long way.
1. Spent two whole days, refactoring, but I still haven't managed to stop it from spawning zombie processes during polling. I'll look at it, again, next time and rehost the repo when I get it fixed.
2. Implemented release events for the tags, that include the zip-download URL.
3. Local cloning to localhost/dev and online editing/adding/saving of all files works.
4. You can add a Markdown or Asciidoc documentation event (30818 default), or just stick to the ReadMe.
5. Branch management for empty repos was very hard and I am now git-traumatized, but it works. I suffer, so that you don't have to.
6. Issues, PRs and patches implemented, including code highlights and comments.
7. Changed access management to be more granular. Now have public, unlisted, restricted, private. (Private saves all events to the repo, rather than publishing them to relays. Share the events with other git repos and stay off the Nostrnet.)
8. Kind 11 discussion thread under very repo.
Lots more bug-fixing and testing to go, but all MVP features are implemented and proven. Project management and Kanbanstr not until v.0.2.0
I need to work on other stuff, like the data imports and aitherboard #spells and the mysterious something something from our mysterious boss @npub1wqf…qsyn, so I will get back to this repo next week.

My clients use kind 10002 for publishing, already.
I will just pull everyone's kind 10002, deduplicate the list (most people have the same ones), remove localhost and filter and aggr and etc., remove anything unresponsive, and anything with write-restrictions, pad the list from a curated set, and then slowly rotate through them, so that I don't get rate-limited.

I do like the idea of adding a bit more randomness to publishing events. Like having five randomly-selected relays from a curated/tested list added every time, as a client-option that the user can turn off.

No, people will not run large, public relays for free, forever. These relay are already gigantic and they're quickly growing. They eat up serious resources, and they are only performant if they are tightly managed and cleverly architected. Much (most?) of the traffic they receive is bots, spam, scammers, attackers, and scrapers.
Not to mention having to deal with the material people store on the relay and the possible personal or legal consequences of having that on your computer.
People don't run Bitcoin nodes for free, either. They run them to manage _their own money_. The way Bitcoin is designed, you automatically help other people manage their money, when you manage your own, as it is all on the same chain. And storing something on Bitcoin costs you Bitcoin. It isn't free storage.
Relays are not a chain. Almost everyone can and will only store and manage the notes they are personally interested in, and maybe those of their friends and contacts. That is enough, for basic communication (if your clients have AUTH and outboxes implemented), but larger relays facilitate wider reach. They aren't all going to go away... so long as they bring the person running it higher benefit and reward, than cost and bother.

I've switched to making everything pointless to copy, by making it so incredibly transparent, complete, and simple, that everyone and everything will just use it. Copying is also effort, after all, and there is value in having others use your stuff, even if they haven't paid for it. Because you set a standard and strengthen a brand.

I've been thinking about this, a lot, as well.
I was recently sort of frustrated, that I spent two weeks, full-time, building a massive, complex system. I thought, "Someone could just come and copy it because of AI." But then I remembered that, before AI, it would have taken me two months, to build, not two weeks.
The potential reward is much lower, but so is the effort.
And I don't think AI could have built it, so it's so unfair that AI could copy it. But it's actually just the MVP. I have so many ideas of what to build in it, next, and no AI I have consulted has thought of any of those ideas. It's so odd.
AI is a like a whole gigantic factory of geniuses, which sounds intimidating. But there are already hundreds of millions of _human_ geniuses. And, yet, I'm the only genius on the planet who has had this idea...
I'm feeling sanguine.

I set up a trusted NIP-05 list on wss://thecitadel.nostr1.com. It was getting spammy. The repo view on #aitherboard is full of bot spam from thecitadel. Makes it useless.

We at @npub1s3h…75wz have now imported half of Project Gutenberg to our #Orly 🦉 relay (actively developed and supported by @npub1fjq…leku).

The second-half import will start tonight (it's a lot!). Then we start importing Wikipedia, in the various languages offered. We'll look for more data sources, after that. Will be millions of mid-sized events, once we're done. If you want to be an #Alexandria Library mirror, you might need to pimp your hardware, but you won't have to increase your event size-limits.
Our relay admin @npub10np…tl5h is going to host our first full mirror on wss://theforest.nostr1.com and you can then arrange streams, or whatever, with him. Our subscribers are making this good work possible! 🫶🏻
All of the items are in the public domain (no copyright) or are copyleft (we include a source tag and a clear notice that the source tag has to be maintained in a clone or fork). We will be regularly scanning the original sources for changes and updating the events. Once you have the basic set, you can just sync the updates. Also feel free to maintain a set of event forks, or to archive changes.
Our biggest challenge is now making the books easily discoverable, from any client that can render 30040 events, by juicing up relay searches with some high-tech engineering magic voodoo stuff. @npub1226…grkj and @npub1wqf…qsyn are both actively working on getting that going. ♥ Both of their systems are getting major updates. Expect cool stuff to get cool even harder.

It's worse. This is a kafka system running on kubernetes and there's no user interface except the CLI. Someone wrote some crappy kubectl bash scripts and I am only supposed to start the script and then make a ticket for each warning or error in the output.
They caught me using kubectl directly, and literally screamed at me. They were livid.
I was using Kibana's query language, too, and they were like, you are only allowed to use the script. Why do you never listen?

The reason you are seeing vibe code projects getting abandoned everywhere is because vibe coding is _grueling, never-ending labour_, like all software development. It is not fun. It is work.
