This year, Bitcoin’s fourth halving reduced the rewards miners earn for processing transactions and adding new blocks to the blockchain from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC.
For those who are new to Bitcoin or unaware:
Halving's happen approximately every four years, or every 210,000 blocks
Why does this matter?
Over time, fewer new Bitcoins are rewarded, making Bitcoin more scarce
