Communities need to take action for themselves as politicians will and are not, despite the rhetoric. Teach your children and grandchildren survival skills like how to find water, build shelter, make fire, hunt, grow food etc. If you don't know learn!

I think the budgets for road building and maintenance would be better spent on infrastructure for free public transport and getting people out of their cars. Encouraging ownership of electric cars is not good either. Or are we all going to wait until it is too hot to go out and the roads melt? #climatechange

Sorry but I think k it is unrealistic to expect any politicians or financiers to do anything meaningful towards climate change. It just won't happen. They either don't believe in it at all (USA) or pay lip service to a solution (Net Zero countries). And the rest of us are powerless to make anything meaningful happen.

Working class people are too busy trying to survive in the current economic climate to care about mitigating climate change or societal collapse. And as usual they will suffer the most.

I don't think we should give up but there definitely should be MUCH more focus on survival strategies. Looking to indigenous people e.g. in North America, Australia and NZ for leadership on this would be a start. It is already far too late for climate change to be turned around-we are looking at a massive extinction event with the collapse of food chains, water scarcity etc. Owning the latest smart phone is not going to help!

The average private rent in my area (which is one of the most deprived in Scotland) for a family home is £750. That is more than half of a wage here for most. Energy costs and food take up the other half, with nothing left for savings for a mortgage or anything else.To expect people to live like that so private landlords can have a pension is obscene.

My relative who has a long term disease has been looked after by the NHS for 20 years. No complaints. Recently friends with various serious issues like cancer, failing sight have been treated promptly. A and E times are horrendous though - probably best to avoid going there unless you are actually dying! #nhsscotland

You omitted cancer, IBD and obesity related diseases caused in part at least by ultra processed foods and pollution. There is some evidence to suggest that big food manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies are in cahoots to maximise profits. Look at TV advertising for example- there are loads of adverts for unhealthy food. McDonalds, Coca-Cola are examples aimed at an uneducated and poor population. #ultraprocessedfood #nhs

This is nothing new.Remember all the postmasters that were wrongly convicted and everyone thought it must be true because the computer says so?Our lives are governed by large, untested IT systems written by badly trained people and aren't understood by anyone.I worked in local government IT for 25 yrs and watched well written in house systems were discarded for private, error ridden ones.IT staff were reduced to managing support calls to big companies.

Sounds like the letters were issued by the Home Office IT system. I'd bet no human read them before they were sent out! Any letter you receive from national or local government is computer system generated. They are based on data typed in by humans. Likely there is an error in the HO one a la Horizon or a mistake was made when inputting. My money is on the former #ukgovernment

My question is how do you persuade people to ditch their car and use public transport? In our street every individual has 1 car so that is at least 2 cars per household. Doesn't help that public transport takes much longer (2 hrs by bus v 20 mins by car to Loch Lomond) and is expensive and unreliable. #ScottishGreens #scottishgovernment #scottishtransport

I've never been convinced that private schooling makes much difference to a child. Personal examples-Uni friend got same degree level as me and she went to Glasgow Hutchesons, son went to school in deprived w of Scotland area and got 1st class degree from Oxford and PhD., cousin's artistic son went to Winchester and got expelled-now in low pay job. #privateeducation

I got vaccines at school in the 60s and 70s. Polio on a sugar cube, Diptheria, Tetanus jabs and in secondary school boosters and the BCG. In our area there is a man around my age permanently disabled (in a wheelchair) from contracting polio as a child. I think anti-vaxers don't properly understand statistics. #poliovaccine

I managed to visit the archaeological site at the Ness of Brodgar, Orkney and there was evidence there that v large cattle were domesticated there. Lots of huge bones found. #NessOfBrodgar #orkney
