The OO-Perspective (from the Eiffel philosophy) is Contracts and Rescue.
Imagine being able to declare exception handling for a class and being able to inherit it. Also, being able to blame the caller or the callee depending on where and how the exception occurs. Imagine being able to retry just as easily.
