Mein Auto wurde gehackt. Das ist nicht sicher. Am Parkhaus sagte so'n Typ, es sei ein Serviceparkhaus, er würde das Auto parken, ich muss ihm nur die Schlüssel geben.
Das war vor Stunden. Ich weiß nicht wo mein Auto jetzt ist. Und die Schlüssel. Was für eine beschissene Autosicherheit. So einfach zu hacken.

Es besteht Hoffnung, dass das Verbrennerausaus letztlich nur Zeitverschwendung und populistische Ablenkung von echten Problemen ist.

I write my blog in plain HTML + a simple script to embed pages into a page structure. No problem with #emacs, the few <p> don't kill me.
Yet one thing: If I have a longer term which appears frequently in a text, I would like to abbreviate it. In LaTeX I would do
\def\sol\xspace{speed of light}
and then keep writing \sol.
I could devise a similar simple expansion in my script, but started to wonder if there is any chance to do it with HTML+CSS (no JS!) only?

I guess the volunteers have enough headaches from berserk AI crawlers. So if they drop the pages, that would be completely understandable:
"Codeberg Pages is currently provided with a best effort approach. To be exact, the software behind this feature is currently in maintenance mode."
Any suggestions where I could publish, say, the Javadoc of a software I maintain. Just a git push and be done. European provider, independent of the US clouds required, though.

@npub10fa…rdvy Hi, did you mention recently that a TypeScript union type is limited to 25 elements? I can't find your post about it. (Searching Mastodon is a bit of a black art, it seems.) Is that true or do I remember this incorrectly?
The reason is that I am experimenting with scheme for localizations where the allowed strings to localize are elements of a union type. A limit of 25 would be really bad.

The de-serialization part has no benefit. You're seeing bytes coming in. You may apply JSON.parse() without Error. Then, what? A string, a number, an object, an array. You will have to validate the whole structure anyway and while you do that, you may well assemble a proper object again.
This leaves you with the theoretical possibility to do a JSON.stringify(fancyThing) for serialization --- if the fancyThing object is stringifyable, as, for example map and set are not.

The improved issue search is nice. I never really understood the [Open|Closed] buttons which sometimes seemed to have shown everything. Now we have three buttons [Open|Closed|All], which is much better. And the Fuzzy/Exact select does not reset when switching between open/closed👍 .
But could you elaborate what hides behind "improvements to code [ ] search"? I must admit I never really used it anyway, but it says it is just using `git grep`. What was it before?

On my 4 year old laptop, starting a Java cli program, no dependencies, takes 300 to 400ms, C compiled stuff is close to unmeasurable.That's the price to pay for class loading. For me it is ok-ish when its a manual run.
But when you expect the program to be called with, say, xargs on many files, you surely want compiled. I never tried graal, but would think it "just compiles" what you wrote. But then Rust may be fun to learn.

Ich versuche ja, mich auf gute Nachrichten zu fokussieren. Die hier ist eine typische Glas ist halb voll/leer Meldung: die Australier haben so viel Erneuerbare im Stromnetz, dass sie nicht wissen wohin mit dem Kohlestrom, also muss auch Windkraft abgeregelt werden.

It is somewhat annoying, to see the disabled security updates in Ubuntu update-manager each time.
On the other hand they are providing a useful service for years and I cannot think of a less ugly idea to motivate users to help finance the thing. Looking at the price: $25/year seems half reasonable actually.
Question: anyone have experience: payment method, cancellation of the subscription, ease of configuring the key or login?
