There has been one (1) period of sustained deflation (eg prices down for multiple years in a row) since the 1910s. That was the Great Depression. I understand why people (not Chris, he gets it) naively think prices should fall but I cannot emphasize enough how Bad that would be.

Have we gotten an [@claudia-sahm.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy](https://bsky.brid.gy/ap/did:plc:7q3w4zshnfsnqqn55znzyl2r ) ruling on how to handle the omitted October unemployment rate for Sahm Rule calculation purposes? My assumption would be to take the average of September and November (4.502% unrounded) but need official confirmation.

Okay so this is a mess to sort through but:
October NFP -105k
October private NFP +52k (Sep +104k post-revision)
November NFP +64k
November Private NFP +69k
UER 4.6% vs 4.5% expected (remember, this was likely biased higher).
Wage growth weaker than expected +0.1% MoM vs +0.3% expected for AHE.

Weekly ADP estimate of payrolls growth suggests a material acceleration over the second half of November, consistent with claims and Indeed openings data.

Jobs data due at 8:30. A quick preview.
1) We're only getting the business survey for October, with November's data released as well. Given October *should* have more responses in, that + September (expect downward revisions) is more reliable than November.
2) No household data for October.

Fun story. For shares (ETFs or otherwise) to trade, you need market makers to provide a bid and offer price for you. The thing is, that takes capital...and there's a finite amount of it. There are so many ETFs now that market makers may have insufficient capital to provide liquidity in all of them.
