Well, it is plainly the more the merrier up to some n. I am not sure what our current n even is since not all populations are communicating or are at least fairly restricted in connectivity.
I could always imagine an infinite sea of people and try to figure out what n that approximates from a local view. Plainly the bandwidth of my local group is finite so even with perfect and accessible information at the boundries, there is a limit to the level of capability local to me.
So at the far end the more the merrier has its limits as well. I just think we are nowhere near those limits.
Though I suspect something weird happens in the range of 30-300 trillion people, but that is for stupid pattern recognition reasons that amout to scientific numerology.
