Local solutions are very different from 24x7 grid wide power. Government doesn't have any money except for what it steals for us directly and indirectly by printing it. Battery tech is NOT economical and has large losses at scale. Mechanical battery is worse and hey, got to convert back to electricity (more losses) to run all those electric gadgets. Believe me many of these have been tried and many more. We just aren't there yet.
