I’ve been down this road last year, when my iCloud started complaining. I don’t even sync photos but the phone backup includes them. I then, slowly and in manageable steps, started going through every photo from the start (2012), deleted what I didn’t need any more and airdropped the rest on the computer and then removed those from my phone. The archived photos go on an SSD and willl be printed. They don’t need to be digitally omnipresent
