He is conflating trust in the agents of money creation and trust in the money itself. Those are two very different types of trust. Bitcoiners don't trust the historical agents of money creation because they repeatedly proved themselves to be unworthy of trust. Whereas Bitcoin is in fact a currency of trust because Bitcoiners trust the currency itself due to its protocol that ensures its soundness.
