As a wordcel I don't think I've ever gotten more out of literature than a comic or animation and book nerds are mostly coping.
They read books bc it makes them part of a club, it makes them feel intellectual, even though any idiot can read a book. We stopped reading because books are a boring medium. The most artful poetry in human history is boring compared to a mediocre poster or comic book.
