Wow I hadn't heard about about Samsung. I'm hoping that Google's clamp down will just result in more effort going into open source apps, stores, and OSes. Including Linux! More power to you. Switching phones has made me aware of the number of apps I use on a weekly basis, it's a lot more than I thought, and they would be hard to replace.
I don't really believe this yet, but I saw Karpathy say the other day that the next generation of computers will just be LLM interfaces over APIs. Maybe there's a world where I can run a linux phone that is basically just a thin client for my self-hosted Hermes agent running a local model at my house, and it can do all the things the 75 apps on my Android phone currently do 🤷♂️
