My dad josefsachs (npub1g6e…5kxv) had a dozen of these from former employers, with names like PTOLEMY. I always equated their austere gold-on-navy-blue UI and case design with serious computing.
Java was never on the agenda. Solaris was just the only UNIX for a home office you could expense to your company before 2007.
For emacs, and IDLE, and a three button mouse, someone paid fifteen grand. In 1990. But this was pro league programming. You gotta go big AND go home.
