The AI hucksters are lying and hyping in the media, but their products all come with very visible disclaimers about their limitations — disclaimers that lawyers, of all people, have no excuse for ignoring. And these cases of false citations have been widely publicised for years now. Nobody in a legal practice who hasn't had their head in the sand can be unaware that this has happened on literally dozens of occasions.
