It's interesting watching people I know who are very outspoken about social and political issues, particularly the ones who like to take a bit of a scolding tone (as if people should know better), continue to stay only on MetaX(asize)...the cancer of social networks. I do suspect some of them are more invested in arguing with right wingers than actually creating change or being the change they want to see in the world. (This, incidentally, includes some people I've introduced to the fediverse. On the other hand, I keep finding out that people who do a lot of real world activism already have Mastodon accounts. Personally, I'm a big believer in just being the change one wants to be and getting on with things...or not, as the case and choice may be.*)

*I am by no means any kind of paragon of activism or right living despite my sometimes sharp commentary, just an imperfect person trying to make the world a bit kinder while having some fun, living/eating well and noticing how absurd we all are (myself included, I'm often innately a "very serious person" so I am perhaps more ridiculous than most!). For instance, I'm not sure how good I'd be about not flying if I could afford to fly to interesting places to visit friends all the time but I'm still a bit horrified by how it seems to be back to business and tourist travel as usual.
