Daylight savings time is a good example of nonsense becoming ossified into the collective modus operandi.

If you want to change that, good luck.
Everyone still "dials" phone calls yet phones haven't had rotary dials for generations.
Everyone still "turns on" and "turns off" devices that have no power knobs to be turned.
Hell, we still use a label for a range of electromagnetic frequencies to describe something that is the opposite of heavy. There's an informal logic for why we say things that aren't heavy are "light". This goes back to ancient Egypt and the feather of Ma'at. The thought was that light was less heavy than birds which were less heavy than other stuff and that's why birds and the sun were able to achieve such high altitudes.
