Morning stroll at Tukad Mungga. Snapped a cheeky selfie, nose deep with all this greenery.
But behind the beauty, we’re losing over 100 ha of rice fields every year in Indonesia. The conversion of these vital fields into housing, industrial zones, and tourism spots is happening at an alarming rate. In the past decade alone, our rice field area has decreased by more than 16%, shrinking from 8.1 mill ha in 2010 to around 6.8 mill ha, today.
This decline in agricultural land puts us at greater risk of food insecurity and now increasingly relies on imports from neighbor.
