I never wanted kids, mostly because I had an uncle and great uncle who never had kids, and they had cool lives. I took measures to make that decision permanent, and I’ve lived a very good life.

My parents confided in me years later that they were both relieved that I didn’t have kids for them to worry about.

The only thing I can do is try to help my friend’s children that are affected by what is coming.
