The best paddling circuit routes here are way up in North Island. I am not able to get up that way as much as I'd like because I don't drive. It's filled with prime paddling spots & you almost never see anyone else around. I usually see more eagles, ravens & black bears than humans, up adventuring the backroad spots that lead to multiple isolated lakes! Several are glacial blue 😃
