also as an addenum after further overnight and shower thoughts on this topic, there IS A problem with the min/max/close paradigm in that a very destructive action (close) is right next to two common operations (minimize/maximize) but there are much less poison-pilled solutions to this problem, like putting min/max or the close button on the left, or the WM including its own "are you sure?" dialog, or tuning the click targets to avoid common misclick scenarios, etc. the answer is not like. removing all the buttons.
