I went on my favorite (secret) hike yesterday and to my great dismay was greeted by a full parking lot at the trailhead and this mysterious sign on the path.

turns out the Inverness Yacht Club hosts their events there, and yesterday was their potluck picnic. which is all fine and well I guess, but I simply hadn’t planned on seeing 150 strangers occupying a stretch of secluded beach I’ve never seen another human being on.

and while most revelers arrived by small boat, they did have a “shuttle” running btw the lot and the beach, about mile and a half down an old farm road. this shuttle was an enormous Suburban SUV that repeatedly forced me into the tall grass off the path.

I did wander away from the party and sat on a deserted bit of beach for a bit so the experience was not fully ruined.

I’m trying to decide how annoyed I’m entitled to be about the whole thing, honestly.
