If anyone is unsure on network ranges, network numbering, and zones, be sure to reach out and I’m happy to discuss.
Each network segment will require a unique network number, and an EtherTalk segment only needs a one-number range to support up to 253 EtherTalk devices.
(Assigning any more if you have 253 or less devices is a waste.)
Modem and Printer ports (if using both) will need a number each.
Network numbers across segments do not need to be contiguous, and you can assign the same AppleTalk zone names to multiple segments/networks to simplify navigation – or have them different to highlight interesting segments.
You can also assign multiple zones per segment, and choose which zone a device is on through its settings.
So, you can go crazy on zones, but please be conservative on network number use!
