Until 1982 stock buybacks were illegal in the US, regarded as a form of stock manipulation. Which they are.
They are one of the major drivers of income inequality.
While it should be banned outright, I think a compromise might be possible.
All stock that is bought back should be evenly distributed to the employees. After all, most of these companies love to state how much they value their workers.
