No one who calls themselves leftist, progressive or pragmatic should defend the Islamic Republic; and no one should shame people driven to desperation by a regime of bullets, torture, rape and execution.
People under terror do not welcome war lightly. When protests, strikes, and every peaceful path are crushed with violence, victims are pushed to see foreign attack by hostile actors as the only way to end a greater evil. This is not endorsement of war, but a measure of despair.
