It's the politics of embarrassment. Those who supported Brexit are either in denial or don't want to face the humiliation. We all don't really want to face the cost, which is huge. But because none of the politicians will talk about it, we haven't begun the much needed public debate over what remedies might be available to make the situation slightly less awful.
