My oldest sister always texts me on my birthday.
She was always my favorite sibling. Whether it was riding with her in her mustang while I was really little, spending nights at her house while my parents were traveling, or just watching movies together that our parents may not have otherwise allowed me to watch (Terminator 3 comes to mind.)
I really wish I could have actually had a sister to sister relationship with her. Maybe I can get something to work in the future, sure, but that would require coming out, and the women in my family tend to talk a lot. It also wouldn’t fill that hole of wanting an older sister that was actually in more of that like, mentor role.
Idk. I don’t even know where I was going with this, other than this message so much joy and so much sadness all at the same time. A piece of me is shouting to just be open, while the realistic side is just beating it down with the sad reality that is religious conservatism.
