If Biden really does leave the race because a bunch of influencers and Democratic Party elites freaked out, it will echo how he became the 2020 nominee in the first place—via an obvious backroom deal to use him to take down Sanders at all costs.
These moments should remind us how in our nominal "democracy," there's actually a relative few people who decide what the limited options will be on our menu.
