The problem with Biden dropping out is that the Democrats have very few people who are nationally known by more than the folks who live and breathe politics, if not as a living or even a hobby than out of a sense of civic responsibility. Whitmer? She had her 15 minutes of fame with the kidnapping plot. Klobuchar? Hers was 5 years ago. Harris is the structural choice, picked 5 years ago as Biden’s backup, but she’d attract the racists, the misogynistists, the birthers, and other wing nuts. Who?
