What drove and keeps the productive population in " poverty", is the size and scale of that armed gang and its looting - Tory, Labour, the monarchs before them...
By any measure, compared to most in my part of the world, I bet you are rather "rich" and have enjoyed a great deal from the customary plunder proceeds throughout and in all aspects of your life.
