Local science fairs are currently recruiting judges. Sign up and support student scientists and engineers. The best way to show kids they belong is to listen to them tell you about their independent ideas. These kids put hours into their projects and because of judging shortages sometimes they only get 3 judges. You don't need a PhD, you don't need decades of research experience. You just need a willingness to ask encouraging questions and be kind.
