Polio isn't gone. Look at Gaza. No one is safe until everyone is safe. Just eliminating polio cases in rich countries by using IPV isn't enough.
The rest of the world (like Gaza) gets OPV. It is at best a double-edged sword. We use it in places the world can't be arsed to spend resources and effort to protect poor populations properly with IPV as part of widespread routine vaccination
