I honestly like VGA because it's the hassle-free choice. Compatible monitors are everywhere and the DIY TVGA9000 card is always a fallback if you can't find a compatible one in your parts box.
It won't run a handful of demos, but that's true of anything short of a balky old CGA 5150. Conversely, CGA for GeoWorks is awful :P
I wish the Graphics Gremlin could do VGA modes since the HDMI-ish output is even more forward compatible than VGA.
