Jesus didn't die on the cross for a single righteous person as there are are non righteous, we "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God!" Romans 3:23

No one is righteous:
Psalm 143:2
Enter not into judgment with your servant, for no one living is righteous before you.

Romans 5:6
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

Christ died as a ransom for many:
