“Abstract power vs. real power”
It seems to come as a surprise to many that “international law” is a social construct that doesn’t apply to those with real power. If you have superior strength and power then you can do whatever you want. I don’t say it’s always the right thing to do, but it is honest to acknowledge that it is how things actually work.
