Now I could start on the base coat! I got a ton of paint samples and looked at them in natural lighting to get the best shade. What I wanted was to do was match these pieces as closely as possible to my own vintage bedroom suite, which is also painted. The in-vogue color of that time was a yellowed-ivory kind of thing. When I looked closely though I noticed shading, and stippling, and even scraping was used to artistically age the pieces. I chose 1 base color and 3 colors to accent/age.
